Happy Birthday to...
Great Grandma Lilly (GG) and Great Pop Pop! They both celebrated their birthdays on the 18th of this month.
GG turned 75 this year and Grammie Sophie planned a very nice birthday party for her. She was showered with lots of love and even some gifts on her special day.
After GG's party we went to my parents and got to Skype with my Pop Pop who turned 92. It was so cute to watch Sophie interact with him through the computer but it will be even better when we see him in July.

Father's Day 2011
Sophie and I had so much fun on Father's Day spoiling Josh. His only job of the day was to relax and watch baseball. His favorite team, the Cubbies, were even playing!
Josh is the best daddy to Soph. He is so gentle and caring with his little girl. I love how he is such a rock for our family and how he is always making sure we are taken care of. I fall more in love with this guy every day and appreciate him more than he will ever know.
We are so blessed to have such great dads in our lives! On Saturday we celebrated with my family and Sunday we celebrated with Josh's family. Our dads are such great role models and super special to us!

Sophie at 13 months
With just a little bit of hair and only two teeth she still looks like a baby, but Sophie is becoming such a big girl.
* Sophie is 70% walking these days. She will crawl over to us or a wall to pull herself up and take off. Sometimes she even trys to run but that puts her right back onto her hands and knees. Soph can stop herself if she feels like she is going to fall and regain her balance to continue walking. (This was typed up the 17th and on the 18th she figured out how to stand up all by herself. After that she has not done much crawling at all. If she falls down from walking she says, "Up", and starts all over again.) She has become a pro at walking and talking on the phone... which is pretty impressive if you ask us. If she drops her phone (or any other toy that she is holding) while she is walking she is able to bend down, get it, and then stand up again.
* Sophie tries to mimic us more and more these days. Her first word was dada and it still is the easiest thing for her to say. She rarely says mama except for if she cries for me. When Lucy barks, Sophie will yell at her and say, "Stop". She can identify a duck and say its name. Soph can roar... it is definately the cutest roar I have ever heard. She has mastered the word, UP. She says, "UP", to get into her high chair, to be picked up, to stand up, to get out of something, or just randomly when she doesn't know what to say. It is adorable! Other words that she is trying to say... trash, diaper, dog, done, and down. She mostly says the beginning sound of all of these words.
* Sophie continues to be a great eater. Our biggest problem is that she smears her food into her hair when she is done.
* Her favorite things to play with are her baby, shape sorter, blanket, and her favorite red necklace. Sophie also turns anything into a phone and holds it up to her ear and starts talking. She loves walking around the house with a "phone" in one hand, her necklaces on, baby in the other hand, and her "purse" aka shape sorter box on her arm.
* We have weaned Soph off the paci during our car rides. She only uses them when she sleeps.
* When we change Sophie's diaper she helps us take her diaper to the trash can.
* She loves brushing her teeth! She sort of will let me help her brush her two teeth but she is so happy when she gets to do it herself.
* Sophie can point to her nose, eyes, and mouth when asked.
* She laughs the hardest whenever she plays with her daddy!
* Sophie loves to tickle daddy. When I say, "tickle daddy", she uses one finger and barely touches him. It is so cute! Sometimes she even tries to tickle herself.
* Her favorite songs/rhymes are Pat-a-Cake and If You're Happy and You Know It
Sophie is hilarious! Her personality is developing more and more everyday. We love watching her grow and change but wish it didn't go by so quickly.

Family Day
On Saturday, we went over to Aunt Mary (aka Gran Mary) and Uncle Dewaine's house for lunch. Sophie's Grammie, Pops, Great Great Aunt Leveta, and friend Larry also joined in the fun. We just love spending time with them.
Sophie thinks Uncle Dewaine and Aunt Mary's dogs, Hailey and Presley, are just the greatest. As you can see she gets the biggest smile on her face when she gets to pet them.
While we were there Sophie checked out Uncle Dewaine's new lawn mower and took a walk around on their grass. (Side note: Sophie just started to enjoy being in the grass. Before she would do everything she could to have the least amount of her body touching it.) Our little cutie would spend all day outdoors if she could!
Afterwards, Josh and I went on a date. It was so nice spending quality time together.
My mom and dad watched Soph while we went out. When we got home they were out on a walk with Soph in the stroller that my parents bought for me when I was a baby. It makes my mom and dad so happy that they saved that stuff and that Sophie is able to use it. Sophie must of had a blast with her Grama and Poppi because she was completely passed out when they got home from their walk.

On the hunt
Sophie has double ear infections again! What started as a little cold turned into a miserable infection and of course she is back on antibiotics. I wish I would have kept better track of how many ear infections she has already had just in this first year but it has felt like millions. We are determined to put an end to this so we are on the hunt for a WONDERFUL ENT. We want to seek out possible solutions to helping Sophie not struggle with hearing loss, speech problems, and painful ear infections. If anyone can recommend an ENT to us, we would really appreciate it.

Drummin' with Daddy
Today was the first day of summer school. While I was at work, Sophie hung out at home with her daddy. They had so much fun playing together and making some music. Here is the picture Josh sent me while I was at school...
I just have to say that my amazing husband vacuumed the floors this morning and had everything cleaned up so that when I got home I didn't have to worry about anything! I love that guy so much!

Meeting Elijah, Jordan, and Karen
The Henderson's close family friends from Louisiana came to visit this past week. We enjoyed seeing them again and watching our kids play together. I especially loved listening to the funny stories Janae and Jordan told about Josh as a little kid. They are hilarious!!! Sophie had fun meeting Elijah, Jordan's son, and playing with him. He is such a cute, happy and laid back little guy. We really enjoyed our visit with them and look forward to seeing them again... hopefully soon!

Swimmin' with Soph
Today we all took a dip in my parent's pool and Sophie had so much fun! The water was a bit chilly so I was afraid that she wouldn't be a big fan of getting in but boy was I wrong. She sang, splashed around and floated in her little pool toy. I can't wait for swimming lessons and more pool time at Gramma and Poppi's house.
Huge Diaper Deal
Do you remember this post? I thought that Josh hit the jackpot when he found this great deal on diapers. Well, he did it again and according to him we won't need to buy diapers again until she is two. He bought 71 packages of diapers. They were originally priced at $9 a pack and went on sale for 2 for $10. Then he found a coupon for $2 off each pack, pricing them at $3 a pack. These diapers would have cost us a whopping $639 + tax without all of the discounts and we only spent $213 + tax.
Good job babe!!!

Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone?
Sophie's BFF (aka Lucy) loves to chill out under the couch or under Sophie's crib these days. Probably because she knows that she is far enough out of reach from Sophie girl. However, Sophie loves her out and about and gets the biggest smile on her face when she is close enough to touch. The other day, Soph did her best to get Lucy out from under the couch and it was way too cute!!!
