Our Garden

A few weekends ago, Josh finally put together our garden. We picked out tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, strawberries, onions, and cilantro to plant. So far, everything is doing well and we have even had some flowers bloom on our tomato plants. We are hoping we will get some tomatoes growing soon.

Swingin' Soph

Last night we got together with our friends Tim, April, Andrew, and their new dog, Fitz. We met up at Freestone Park to let the kids and dogs play, while we chatted. While we were there Sophie went on a swing for the first time. She smiled and enjoyed herself while Tim and Andy pushed her.

Mother's Day

I had a very nice mother's day. Our day wasn't spent doing anything out of the ordinary but the just the fact that we got to spend time together meant the world to me. Being a mommy is the best and I love every minute of it!

I love...
being able to comfort Sophie in the middle of the night and to snuggle with her until she falls back to sleep

the big hugs and sweet kisses I get in the morning when I go to wake her up.

watching her face light up when she sees Lucy and especially her daddy.

listening to her read stories to me or herself.

her belly laugh

watching her learn new things and figure things out on her own

holding her when she is asleep, she is so peaceful

singing songs with her and listening to her join along

the many faces she makes

the fact that she is my daughter and that GOD blessed me with such a beautiful little girl.

The list of things that I love about Sophie is endless and I am so proud to be her mom!

EASTER 2011

Easter was really enjoyable this year. We kicked off the weekend with a photo shoot with the one and only Steph Barber. Then we headed to my parents house and had fun spending the day with them. At dinner time, my parents gave Soph an "Easter basket." She got a Mr. Potato Head and the movie, Bambi.

Family Easter Picture

On Easter morning, we went to Josh's grandma's nursing home to celebrate with Josh's family. We went to a church service and then we had a little picnic and egg hunt afterwards. It was so nice spending Easter morning with Josh's family and watching Aiden and Sophie hunt for eggs.

That afternoon, we went to our family friend's house for a delicious dinner. It was so nice to see friends that we hadn't seen in while and celebrate Easter with them.

E L E V E N Months!

Oh my goodness... in one month Sophie will be a YEAR old! I am having such a hard time figuring out where the time is gone. This past month Sophie has changed so much. She is doing so many new things and her personality is showing more and more.

* Sophie is pulling up onto EVERYTHING! She even gets onto her tippy toes and lifts her leg to try and get up onto things. She is such a dare devil and will take chances to get whatever she wants. I love when she crawls over and pulls herself up and stands next to me waiting for me to pick her up.
* Our growing girl has figured out how to balance and stand all by herself for about a minute. Even if she begins to topple over she can regain her balance for a few more seconds.
* Sophie will try to mimic what we say. She may not make out full words but she is picking up on some sounds and it sometimes sounds like what we are telling her to say. If we say something she will move her mouth and try to copy what we do without making a sound. It is so cute! One word that we know she knows is dada. If we ask where is dada she will look at Josh and say, "dada". I am trying to teach her to say, "ALL DONE" so that she will tell me that she is finished eating instead of rubbing her food all over her tray. Right now when she repeats me it sounds like, "ah- da"
* She will point to things she wants or sees.
* Sophie will eat whatever we put in front of her. She is such a great eater and loves her fruits, veggies, and some meats.
* We have so much fun playing with Sophie. She loves things that make music the most so she can dance and sing along.
* Erin (Sophie's WONDERFUL daycare provider) taught Soph to raise her arms up high when she is asked, how big is Sophie?
* Last week (the first week in May) Sophie took two steps all by herself!
* She is now wearing 12 month clothing. There are a few 9 month onsies that she can fit into but not many.

[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]
BY E. E. CUMMINGS

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

WOW!!!

Grammie Sophie's Aunt Mary (aka GranMary) is extremely talented... you can tell by looking at the pictures below. We saw a bed set at Ikea, got inspired, and shared our inspiration with GranMary. Then she was able to take our ideas and create everything we imagined. Words can't even explain how thrilled we are about how our bedroom set turned out. We still have some work to do to finish decorating our bedroom but this is a GREAT start.
